Matthew McMeekin set out at a blistering pace from Strandhill at the Sligo AC Coast to Coast. By the time the race had got to Cummen Hill, Matthew had gapped most of the field with only Brian Kinsella keeping within touching distance. Eventually, Matthew would come home in a time of 52:10, some 5 minutes and 26 seconds ahead of Brian, with Alan Stafford nine seconds behind.
In the women’s race, Cora Regan was over two minutes ahead of her nearest rival Eimear O’Connor with Sarah Kelly following close behind, just over a minute behind Eimear. Cora won the Coast to Coast in a time of 1:03:58, with Eimear taking second place in a time of 1:06:22 and Sarah rounding out the podium with a time of 1:07:26
In the 10 mile walk, our first two walker crossed the finished line in the exact same time, Izabela Sawicka and Padraig Mcgloin completed the walk in a time of 1:58:22
Shane O’Relly wins 5 Mile Challenge
In the 5 mile challenge, Shane O’Relly took first place in a time of 30:09, second place man was Danny Hannon in a time of 32:39 and rounding out the podium was Keith Watters with a time of 34:42
Heather Foley continues her form of podiums with a first place female in a time of 30:46, Mari Johnston was under a minute down for a time of 31:31 to take second place and Valeriia Petrova claimed third place with a time of 32:59
